Meet the Kaleidoscope Institute team!
Eric has been a consultant and trainer since 1990 working with the Roman Catholic, Episcopal, United Methodist, Presbyterian, American Baptist, United Church of Christ and Lutheran Churches in the United States, Canada, Asia, Australia and Europe. He had served as the Congregation Development Officer for the Diocese of New Westminster, Vancouver, B.C. and Diocese of Los Angeles. He is the author of 10 books including Holy Currencies, Holy Currency Exchange, and more. He is an Episcopal priest, a composer of church music, a photographer and a playwright. He writes a weekly blog called The Sustainist: Spirituality for Sustainable Communities in a Networked World.
Peter has been involved as an associate with Kaleidoscope Institute since its conception. He has broad experience in Human Relations, diversity & inclusion, performance improvement, training & development, coaching, conflict resolution, leadership/management development and culture change. His work has been in a variety of industries and non-profits with the most recent being in healthcare.
Kathryn Nishibayashi joined the KI team in October 2018 after a 12 year career as an elementary school teacher. She is likely your first point of contact when you contact KI. She is a current seminarian at Bloy House (The Episcopal Theological School of Claremont) and enjoys reading, singing, and watching Dodger baseball.
Ordained in the United Church of Christ, Jake and his wife have served the First Congregational Church of Pasadena for twenty years as their Co-Pastors. Jake has worked with KI for the past sixteen years and taught Field Education and the practice of ministry at Claremont School of Theology during those years as well. A graduate of the University of Michigan, San Francisco Theological Seminary and the University of Virginia, Jake lives in La Crescenta, CA with his wife and two dogs.
Claire Ellen Smith is a lifelong Washingtonian. Originally from Whatcom County, she studied English Literature and Hispanic Studies at Pacific Lutheran University and holds a Masters of Social Work from the University of Washington. Claire first connected with the Kaleidoscope Institute during her two years as a Jesuit Volunteer, where KI's dialogue processes helped deepen her community life and direct service efforts. Claire is also an Apprentice Facilitator with the Krista Foundation for Global Citizenship, where she practices intercultural dialogue with other young adult leaders.
Linda Young, a native of Lexington, Kentucky, lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Union College and has earned graduate degrees in education, counseling and theology. She is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory and has Certificates in Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction. Her professional careers have included teaching, counseling, executive director of not-for-profit organizations. As an Associate and Midwest Regional Director of the Kaleidoscope Institute, she provides training for multicultural leadership development and the planning and implementing processes of Kaleidoscope Institute to ensure respectful dialogue and clarity of information as individuals work together to move forward to a desired outcome.
Cindy has been working with Kaleidoscope Institute processes for more than ten years. She lives in Fort Worth, Texas and has been working to expand and adapt KI programs for Spanish-language and bilingual/bicultural settings. She graduated from Seminary of the Southwest with an M.Div. and Hispanic Studies Concentration and now serves as a deacon at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Granbury,Texas.
The Rev. William (Bill) Cruse was ordained to the priesthood by the bishop and people of the Episcopal Church of New Hampshire. Bill earned a Master of Divinity at Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge MA, and a Certificate in International Ecumenism and Mission from the Boston Theological Institute in May 2015. Bill works with The Kaleidoscope Institute (KI) in congregational vitality, multiculturalism, visioning and strategic planning, and sustainable missional ministry. He started as a workshop participant in 1997, then Facilitator, and as Associate in 2006. In addition, Bill is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory® and an intercultural competency coach.
Richard Webb M.Ed. has worked in different capacities training and facilitating experiences that support successful racial and multicultural inclusiveness within diverse environments. He has worked in educational, corporate and non-profit institutions as an innovator, bridge builder, voice and practitioner. He has been an actively supporting the Kaleidoscope Institute and Eric Law since 2010 within the United Methodist, Lutheran, and interfaith communities. He uses developmental approaches that yield demonstrated behavioral outcomes for individuals and organizations that are goal driven and multicultural/racial responsive.
